Coqui Frog Map and Dashboards

Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity staff use several techniques to eradicate the frogs. Captures shown on map represent the number of frogs captures in each ZIP Code that the Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity along with partnered agencies has responded to from Pest Report Hotline calls, pest report calls, known coqui populations, and other responses from local public and businesses. 

Map show Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity efforts along with partnered groups of State of Hawaii fiscal year 2026 captures up until October 31, 2025. These are from new reports and continued ongoing coqui responses. 

Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity staff collect various data points while conducting field operations. Using modern technology such as GNSS and tablet computers information is recorded for analysis and long-term planning. Click on any of the bar columns in the two lower graphs to see the zip code location on the map. The data indicators will also report the details of the selected zip code. 

Data collection is an ongoing effort. Data is collected on every site visit. Data is presented by fiscal year so the annual budget allocation can be directly related to the work. Citric acid is a weak organic acid that occurs naturally in citrus fruits and is also produced industrially for use in food, cleaning, and supplements.  It is used to kill coqui frogs which is good as it is not a chemical that persists in the environment.
